Holy big girl Batman!!

Josie is learning all sorts of sweet new skills. Although she hasn't learned any bow hunting or numchuck skills yet, hers are still pretty exciting. Last night at Relief Society I looked over and she was chowing down on crackers out of my friend Sarah's hand! She was eating them like a starving little bird - it was so funny.

Today's new skill is her sippy cup - I'm pretty sure she just thinks it's another toy. Every once in a while she'd get a taste of that watered down apple juice, then she'd stop and hold the cup out to look at it - hmmm, tastes better than my other toys!

Love that serious face.

No shirt, no shoes...no problem!!

Josie and I went on an excursion to the big city yesterday to do some shopping. When we got to Target, I decided to check Josie's diaper before we went inside. I wasn't really paying attention, and Josie decided to pee without her diaper on - peeing on my shirt and jeans, and her jammies. So, I kinda panicked since I hadn't brought her a spare outfit, but luckily I happened to have a couple outfits in the back seat that I'd forgotten about. I redressed her but didn't have socks and shoes since she'd been wearing footed jammies. So, I had to suck it up and be trashy - no socks or shoes and it was so cold out!! Luckily I found some really cute new pink socks and shoes, but not before about 3 people mistook her for a boy - come on, that outfit is clearly light purple - not blue!!!

Happy birthday to me!

Today is Josie's 1/2 year birthday, and I really can't believe it. She is growing and learning so fast, it's amazing.

She's talking so much - here she's telling me what she thinks, and that look should tell you she means business.

She's started grabbing everything - including the camera when I try to get close-up shots.

Watch out!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COURTY!

27 years ago today, Courtney Kindergarten Miles arrived here on earth. For the past few weeks, I've been contemplating this post, what I could say, and what totally embarassing pics I could post. Even though I did find some pretty sweet pics, the point of this post, on this very special day, is to let everyone who reads this know how much I love my best friend - and how I can't imagine my life without her!! I have a million funny stories and hilarious memories, but here are some random facts you might not know about Court:
1. She eats pepperoni as a snack.
2. She butters her saltine crackers.
3. She is an amazing fisherwoman.
4. She is a splurge shopper - I love shopping with her!
5. She is an outstanding pianist (although she hides that talent under a bushel)
6. She doesn't like cake - get her something else for her b-day!
7. She paints like Michelangelo - and she was Michelangelo the Ninja Turtle for Halloween once.
9. She likes to drive with one foot out the window.
10. She loves a man in uniform.
These pictures speak for themselves, but I think even when we're 90 (and wearing Easy Spirits) we'll still be just as goofy and geeky as we were at 18. Love ya Court!!!

randy randomness

That's my name - don't wear it out.

These things never get less funny.

The Blue Machines

So, this weekend we found our new favorite past-time - being little league soccer fans!! We went to see our cute little buddy Aubrey in her 1st soccer game and it was sooooo funny. The best part is her team is named the "Blue Machines." They all voted and that was the winner.

Aubrey is #2 - she looked so cute in her pink, shorts, shinguards and shoes.

She got a little tired after running around in circles - in her league they don't have goalies or positions, so all the kids just run around in a pack chasing the ball. Hill AFB.

Josie loved watching the action - I hated soccer when I was little - I only went for the twinkies - so I won't make her play unless she wants to...hhh.

Dog Pile!!! Er, Cat, Daddy, Baby Pile...

I ran some errands this morning and came home to the cutest scene I've seen yet....

Today I realized that Josie has totally figured out what she's supposed to do when she sees a camera - it's so funny, she'll smile every time I point the camera at her. Here are a few examples...

Josie Jump-Up, and other random things.

I took the recommendation of our good friend Whit, and bought Josie this little Johnny Jump-Up. She likes it, but hasn't figured out the jumping part yet! She just kinda swings around.

The happy little peanut.

Me and my Utah-love.

This one is for Lors - when I first put her in the Johnny Jump Up, she scratched her cheek on one of the straps, and got a mysteriously Harry Potter-ish scratch on her cheek...

"I'm kind of a big deal..."

No pictures with this post, just a story of my exciting morning. I was listening to my favorite show on Martha Stewart radio on Sirius, "Homegrown," and I finally got the courage to call and ask them a question about my dying hydrangeas. This lady answered and asked me what my question was, and then she put me right on!! I was so nervous. It was so funny to hear, "and now we have a question from Lindsey in South Dakota..." I was dying. The funniest part was when I was telling Ben about it (he was taking a shower and missed my 5 minutes of fame) he said, "That's awesome! You should blog about that."

Happy Easter!

This Easter has been especially fun, now that we have our own little Easter Bunny...

You may wonder "where did they get this classy portrait taken?" Well, lucky for you and your kid, you can get one just like it at your local Walmart Lawn and Garden Center.

I caught a rare sighting of the Easter bunny hiding eggs.

I found this little stray bunny during the egg hunt.

Scratchy watch out!

Josie just noticed Scratchy, and she thinks she's so funny. She just watches her and giggles. Scratchy watch out!!! I can't wait 'til she can terrorize her and chase her around...

Growing like a weed...

I sat up last night and went through Josie's pictures from when she was born and I can't believe how much she's grown (and that we brought her home 5 months ago!)- It's so amazing to watch it happen so fast - I wish I could just stop the clock sometimes, but here's a flashback of her little life so far...

1 month...

2 months...

3 months...

4 months...

5 months..

That explains it!!!

We've had a crazy week!! Josie had a cold, then she got her shots and felt bad after that for a few days. When she was still fussy and uncomfortable 3 days later, I felt her gums and guess what? A tooth!! It popped out last night - she was still fussy all night, so I felt again this morning - another tooth!! Her bottom middle two teeth are peeking out now and it's so cute. I don't really have a pic of them - they're too tiny to catch on film yet - coming soon...

We found a new use for our Bumbo chair - talk about a water baby!!!

Our usual 5 minute bath lasted about 30 minutes because she was having so much fun-

She just recently noticed her feet - and is pretty fascinated by them.

Chillin' on the couch with mom.
